No matter how good your primary source of income is, it's always better to have more than one way ot make money. More streams of revenue mean more revenue total, period. If you're not sure how to branch out, try the two ideas below.
Expand Within Your Field
When you start thinking about selling more services, please be aware that going outside your niche is not usually the answer. Remaining in your niche means you can bundle services with new products and make buying both an appealing deal. Just be careful not to spread yourself too thin; the moment you find yourself stretched from in-home computers all the way to kitchen gadgets is the moment you should step back and rethink your strategy. You also don’t want to add too many options because it can be confusing to potential – and current – clients. But well-thought out add-ons and additions can make all the difference.
Sell Your Methods (Yes, Really!)
You might think that giving away your secrets is a horrible idea, and if you're a hot sauce maker, this is probably a true statement. But when you’re in a complicated niche that has a lot of work involved, giving away your secrets will usually just result in people admiring what you do and asking you to do it for them. You can sell your strategies in book form, CD form, home study courses, any way you see fit – and then upsell those services as much as you can.
If you want to make more money (and who doesn't), branching out and adding a new, related service is often a good option. Depending on the field, you can also make money by charging people to learn how you do what you do, and they'll probably wind up more impressed with you to boot.
