How much should AI remember about you?
With a major update, Microsoft is giving you more choice.

Until now, Copilot has been best for quick tasks such as summarizing text, drafting emails, and answering questions. It has not retained much about you, so every new session has felt like a first meeting. That has limited how personal and efficient the experience can be.

That is beginning to change.

What’s new

Microsoft is introducing memory management in Copilot, giving you direct control over what it remembers.

  • You can explicitly tell Copilot to “remember this.”
  • An upcoming memory management page will show exactly what is stored.
  • You can edit or delete details at any time.

In practical terms, Copilot can build helpful context about you and your business while you remain in control of what it keeps and what it forgets.

Why it matters

Consider the time saved if Copilot remembers how your team writes reports, the names of key clients, or the formats you prefer for proposals. Instead of re‑explaining the same information, you can focus on the work. If something changes, such as a client’s details or your preferred style, you can update or clear that memory instantly.

Connectors

There is another important piece to this update. Connectors expand where Copilot can work.

Copilot already links to OneDrive. Support for Google Drive is coming soon. You will be able to ask Copilot to fetch documents, summarize a folder of files, or surface insights from stored data without opening each file manually. More services are expected over time, giving businesses a more unified way to work with their information.

Availability

These features are rolling out across the web, Windows 11, and mobile devices. Some capabilities are expected to be free, and others may be reserved for Copilot’s paid tier.

The bottom line

Copilot is evolving into a smarter, more personal assistant that learns from you, while keeping you in the driver’s seat. The more Copilot remembers, the more useful it becomes, and the fact that you decide what it keeps ensures you can use that power without sacrificing control.
